Ex-SPG officer pens novel “Rasaathi” on transgenders

ପୂର୍ବତନ ଏସପିଜି ଅଧିକାରୀ ଟ୍ରାନ୍ସଜେଣ୍ଡରମାନଙ୍କ ଉପରେ ଉପନ୍ୟାସ “ରସାଥୀ” ଲେଖିଛନ୍ତି

Ex-SPG officer, Sasindran Kallinkeel’s has penned a novel named “Rasaathi: The Other Side of a Transgender”.

• The main character in the novel, published by BookMitra, is a transgender named Rasaathi born in a well-to-do family in South India.
• Rasaathi, meaning princess, is in the late 40s who wants people to treat transgenders like human beings by showering love, affection, sympathy and recognise their pathetic and horrible life.
• Sasindran Kallinkeel was with the Central Reserve Police for 23 years and had a seven-year stint with the Special Protection Group (Prime Minister’s Security) as a senior security officer when Atal Bihari Vajpayee and Manmohan Singh were in office.

Veteran author & Gujarati columnist Father Carlos Gonzalez Valles SJ passes away

ଭେଟେରାନ ଲେଖକ ତଥା ଗୁଜୁରାଟୀ ସ୍ତମ୍ଭକାର ପିତା କାର୍ଲୋସ ଗୋଞ୍ଜାଲେଜ ଭାଲେସ ଏସ.ଜେ.

Veteran author and Gujarati columnist of Father Carlos Gonzalez Valles SJ, popularly known as Father Valles passed away.

• A Jesuit priest born in Spain, he was a Mathematics teacher in Gujarat.
• He wrote extensively in Gujarati, English and Spanish.
• He translated many mathematical concepts into Gujarati and coined terms for them.

West Indies pace legend Michael Holding has been appointed patron of the MCC Foundation.

• The MCC Foundation is the charitable arm of the Marylebone Cricket Club, custodians of the game’s laws, and was created with the aim of enhancing lives through cricket.
• The 66-year-old Holding is a passionate advocate for equality in cricket and the wider community.
• Throughout a professional career that spanned 15 years, Holding, nicknamed Whispering Death, carved out a reputation as one of the best fast bowlers of all time.

15th Finance Commission submits report for 2021-26 to President Ram Nath Kovind

15 ତମ ଅର୍ଥ ଆୟୋଗ ରାଷ୍ଟ୍ରପତି ରାମ ନାଥ କୋବିନ୍ଦଙ୍କୁ 2021-26 ପାଇଁ ରିପୋର୍ଟ ଦାଖଲ କରିଛନ୍ତି

The Fifteenth Finance Commission led by its Chairman N.K. Singh submitted its report for the period of 2021-26 to President Ram Nath Kovind.

• The report has been finalized after wide-ranging consultations with the Union and State Governments, local governments, Chairmen and Members of previous Finance Commissions, Advisory Council to the Commission and other domain experts, academic institutions of eminence and multi-lateral institutions.
• The Finance Commission will also present a copy of the Report to the Prime Minister. The report will be tabled in the Parliament by the Finance Minister along with an Action Taken Report of the government.
• The other members of the commission include Ajay Narayan Jha, Prof. Anoop Singh, Dr. Ashok Lahiri and Dr. Ramesh Chand.

Uttarakhand celebrates its 20th foundation day on 09 November

Uttarakhand celebrated its 20th foundation day on 09 November.

• Governor Baby Rani Maurya, Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat and Assembly Speaker Prem Chand Agraval have greeted the people on the occasion.
• The demand for the creation of Uttarakhand as a separate state of Uttarakhand arose in the year 1897.
• The demand for a separate state turned into a full fledged mass movement in 1994.
• The movement led to the formation of the Uttarakhand state in 2000.
• The state was earlier named as ‘Uttaranchal’ when it was formed. But in 2007, state was renamed to Uttarakhand.

Pakke Tiger Reserve provide Covid-19 Insurance to Green Soldiers

Pakke Tiger Reserve (PTR) in Arunachal Pradesh has become the first in the eight-State northeast to provide insurance cover against Covid-19 for “green soldiers”.

• 57 frontline staff (referred to as green soldiers) of the Park have been insured for nine months against health issues due to the infection by the Covid-19.
• The forest guards are rightly the green soldiers in the frontline of India’s wildlife, and the onus of wildlife conservation pretty much falls on them.
• Pakke Tiger Reserve (declared in 1999-2000) lies in the foothills of the eastern Himalaya in the East Kameng district of Arunachal Pradesh and is also known as Pakhui Tiger Reserve.

Delhi to adopt Dungarpur’s model of rainwater harvesting

The Delhi government will adopt the cost-effective model of rainwater harvesting currently being implemented in the tribal-dominated Dungarpur district of Rajasthan.

• A seven-member delegation was on an official visit to witness the rainwater-harvesting system that costs just Rs 16,000 as compared to the conventional one, which costs between Rs 50,000 and Rs one lakh per household.
• Dungarpur model was an innovative idea that was centred on routing the rainwater to a bore well, instead of a regular rainwater-harvesting pit.
• The rainwater collected on the rooftop is being routed to the casing of already existing bore wells in households. They have created sand filters in the conduit pipe itself and included a way of backwash too.

UP to develop Vindhyavasini Temple Corridor in Vindhyachal

ବର୍ଷା ଜଳ ଅମଳର ଡଙ୍ଗରପୁରର ମଡେଲ ଗ୍ରହଣ କରିବାକୁ ଦିଲ୍ଲୀ |

The Uttar Pradesh (UP) government has decided to develop the Vindhyavasini Mandir Corridor at Vindhyachal in Mirzapur district.

• The Vindhyavasini corridor is modelled on the lines of Kashi Vishwanath Corridor in Varanasi.
• It will have a 50-feet wide parikrama path, or circumambulation route, around the shrine of Goddess Vindhyavasini.
• The UP cabinet had on October 30 approved the decision to develop the religious corridor.
• The Yogi Adityanath-led government seeks to develop religious tourism in the eastern UP region.
• The Vindhyavasini temple is surrounded by buildings and narrow lanes and pilgrims have to walk through them while circumambulating the temple.

• 2020 Theme: “Science for and with Society in dealing with the global pandemic.”
